Harrah’s to Stage the World’s Richest bling2 Tournament in Rio Next Year

Get set for live bling2 action, starting June 25th next year. That’s when the satellites and live action begins for the $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold’em World Championship. The actual event starts on July 28th 2006 and will consist of 44 different events. Through these 44 events, players will battle for the coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelets. Harrah’s vice president of sports and entertainment marketing, Jeffrey Pollack said that every poker enthusiast was invited to enter the prestigious poker tournament. He also said that the players and the fans would be given an overwhelming experience at Rio, in 2006. Last year’s 45 events attracted 32,341 player entries and grossed up over $106 million as prize money. The championship was won by Joseph Hachem of Melbourne, Australia; who took back $7.5 million.

Harrah’s also announced the Rio will host the Second Annual World Series of Poker Lifestyle Show July 27 through July 30. A trade show featuring exhibitors from around the globe, the World Series of Poker Lifestyle Show will showcase a broad array of new poker products, websites, books and clothing.

World Poker Exchange Sponsors 2006 Worldpx College Shootout Tournaments at 219 American Schools

World Poker Exchange has announced that it will be sponsoring the 2006 Worldpx College Shootout tournament. This tournament will be conducted at 219 American schools. This is a part of its initiative to continue to seek and recognize emerging poker talent. 399 participating winners will move through the ranks of competition. They will compete for more than $90,000 in cash and prizes. Prizes will also include a mini Cooper, spring break trips for two, scholarships, Dell (TM) computers and iPod Nanos. The preliminary rounds of the tournament begin from January 16. All the young participants can register at Collegeshootout.com. They must be at least 18 years old and must be enrolled in an American institution of higher learning.

On-site registrations begin Oct. 24 as Worldpx tournament representatives promote the tournament on 219 school campuses across the nation to conduct signup. Additionally, potential competitors can play for free and practice on the Worldpx.net site until the actual start of the preliminaries.
